Ventilated Curtain Wall Systems

     Ventilated curtain wall systems, also known as double-skin curtain wall, consists of two layers-- an inner and outer curtain wall which forms an enclosed space where air can enter from the lower air inlet, and leave from the upper exhaust vent. This space encourages air movement, where heat flows. Compared to traditional curtain wall systems, ventilated curtain wall systems' main feature is that it allows for a circulation and ventilation area between the two layers. This causes temperature of the inner curtain walls to be close to the indoor temperature, thereby lowering the temperature gap. In reducing temperature difference, it saves energy by 42%-52% compared to traditional curtain wall heating; In cooling process, it saves energy by 38%-60%. Also, with the use of double-layer curtain wall, the entire curtain wall's sound insulation greatly improves. There are two different structured-types of ventilated curtain wall systems: "closed internal circulatory system" and "open external circulatory system"
